Good things happen in doorways
Doors for a start. Open, closed, ajar. Sun kissed with paint chipping. Etched with anthems of angst, love, hate, fun, irony and anger. Tags at once timid, bold, well reshearsed and immature, even premature. Inspired slogans and lazy statements. Good, bad and ugly but always rich. Pissed on. Huddled against. Opened for opportunity, closed for business. Slept beneath. Yes, beautiful things happen in doorways.

Capuch
Capuch is as mysterious and his name, which means the detached hood of a monks habit. I wonder if he is from here (i.e. from Earth, not only from Melbourne)? I sense he was perhaps passing through when he proliferated paste ups in laneways, on shop fronts and down side streets throughout Fitzroy. I continue to search for him high and low. Google reveals little although strenghtens my fantasy of the mysterious traveler passing through - a musician perhaps? The indolent dandy in his acute thoroughness makes mention of him and gives us an exquisite piece that even gives a recipe for cooking Rabbit, topical this close to easter. I welcome any insights, any images or links from others more enlightened. In the meantime, I mull over old images, walk wistfully past ageing paste ups and await in anticipation for more Capuch ...

Aloha
Invigorated by dolphin love ins and Hendricks Martinis I am calling a muster for activists. America, land of the free. Hawaii, picturesque to the left. To the right, Families homeless in blue tarp shanties, fat tourists (me!) eating 5 course meals. Get outraged. People Power. Check out Hunt and Blood Diamonds . Recall the candlelight vigil. Stonewall. Bring back crowds in unison shouting never be defeated. No Nukes. No more! Enough!

Choose Your Own Adventure
I am outta time (you're outta touch, but I'm outta my head when you're not around - 80s flashback Yay, Bulk Ace!) ... Ummm yeah so 5 drafts, no time, many photos and every intention. But i do offer you this sweet collection - there are several threads weaving through them worthy of a blog and i invite you to see what speaks to you. Is it Miso against busy backgrounds ? Be Free so grandly poised? The intangible name of the stencil artist you read about ages ago and you cant quite track the name down in your mind? Hmmmm

Qi
Street Art - a gifted street artist got me thinking about what defines Street Art and why I appreciate it. I see Street Art as an intangible action, a means, the doing - as well as the Done. I dont pretend to know anything about Eastern Philosophy however i believe Street Art is an energy that flows. It heats up, cools down, the viscosity changes, and both those that Do and those that Document add something to the fluid dialogue. Anyway I just like it - what Street Artists do and what that leaves us to see. And i hope the multiple openings/closings and celebrations last night were as amazing as those who shaped them!

Unrequited
Time is running out for me to catch this wave, and its momentum dissipates with each moment lost . I am desperately grasping for my previously freakishly good intuition, to find myself empty handed at every turn. The challenge, you see, was raised for me to find certain intriguing additions to our streets, coinciding with Phoenix the Street Artists Fab exhibition, and I have failed! So Phoenix, with your sneaky new pieces, you are my unrequited conquest...for now. Here's the current state of my collection...(apologies I didn't shoot the first image before the obligatory dick joke, and yes I cheated one was outside the parameters of Fitzroy)...
