Street Art - a gifted street artist got me thinking about what defines Street Art and why I appreciate it. I see Street Art as an intangible action, a means, the doing - as well as the Done. I dont pretend to know anything about Eastern Philosophy however i believe Street Art is an energy that flows. It heats up, cools down, the viscosity changes, and both those that Do and those that Document add something to the fluid dialogue. Anyway I just like it - what Street Artists do and what that leaves us to see. And i hope the multiple openings/closings and celebrations last night were as amazing as those who shaped them!

Unrequited

Time is running out for me to catch this wave, and its momentum dissipates with each moment lost .   I am desperately grasping for my previously freakishly good intuition, to find myself empty handed at every turn.   The challenge, you see, was raised for me to find certain intriguing additions to our streets, coinciding with Phoenix the Street Artists Fab exhibition, and I have failed!  So Phoenix, with your sneaky new pieces, you are my unrequited conquest...for now.  Here's the current state of my collection...(apologies I didn't shoot the first image before the obligatory dick joke, and yes I cheated one was outside the parameters of Fitzroy)...

Kaffeine is Back

A tiny sticker was the only clue that I may have been on the trail.  In my haste to uncover more I lost the scent, but in hindsight I can pinpoint the wrong turn and will rectify!  Nonetheless losing the scent proved fruitful in so many other ways.  Here's today.

I'm letting the images do the talking here, the good Durban Poison has me mellow in a soft lounge chair, dry mouth, big smile ...this shit is good! Flake is doing everything I love in street art too. Keep it comin' guys.

Mundane realities have robbed me of time but not of will. I may not be bloggin' a whole lot lately but I am still smellin' the roses ... And have finally prioritised some time to get my ass over to see the Phoenix exhibition cant wait!!!!! In the meantime ...

You Sold Our Lifestyle Out

I sense tension. I can only report on it and declare no allegiances. Fitzroyalty tells us that DN needs to meet Tres. Tres declares all over Rone's face that he has "sold our lifestyle out". I blame the unnecessary clean ups (Fitzroy is gentrified enough stop this purification!!!!) freaking us all out. Maybe you know the deeper story. Maybe it's a widening gap between purist crews and emerging artists. I will leave you all to ponder but will add to this debate that we need you all. Nufevah to Ghost Patrol, pieces to paste ups. The diversity articulates a dialogue that is of difference, but difference is at the core and it's good. I implore you all to raise the white flag for each other and declare war on the true enemy that is scrubbing down a wall as you read this...
